Green Hotel in downtown Warrenton is a beautiful setting to hear a concert. People attending the concerts are encouraged to contribute $2 a person towards the cost of the evening. There is plenty of parking available, and downtown streets are closed to vehicular traffic during the concert.
Families are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chairs and a picnic if they like. Homemade refreshments provided by local civic organizations will often be available at intermission.
Bluemont will be bringing performers this weekend to local nursing homes and hospitals as part of the Bluemont Concert Series community benefit program. These performances continue throughout the year. For more information contact Peter Dunning at (703) 777-6306.
Concerts will be held outdoors whenever possible; decision to move indoors is made at 5 p.m. on the day of the concert; information will bebroadcast over local radio stations. In the event of bad weather, this concert will be held indoors at Warrenton Junior High School.
This series is part of regional project of courthouse concerts supported by community partnerships in Culpeper, Leesburg, Warrenton and Winchester.

50th wedding
anniversary
Beatrice and Robert Schurtz of Springfield celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, Aug. 1. Mrs. Schurtz was the former Beatrice Smith of Amissvilte.
Mr. and Mrs. Schurtz celebrated the occasion at home with their sons, Gary, Roy and Stanley along with their wives, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Also joining in on the celebration were Mrs. Schurtz’s brother and sister-in-law Andrew and Louise Smith; her sister Jessie Clarke and Mr. Schurtz’s cousin Hazel Lyles. Mr. Smith and Mrs. Clarke are both former residents of Amissville.
