On Monday evening, the traditional livestock sale was held at the Agricultural Enterprises. The money from the sales is used by the 4-H exhibitors to recoup some of the costs of raising the animals to exhibit at the Farm Show.
“The 4-H Livestock Club members and the Rappahannock County Extension Service are especially grateful to the following individuals and businesses who supported the livestock sale and purchased animals shown by Rappahannock County 4Hers,” Extension Agent Tommy Williams said.
Eileen Day Realty, The Inn at Little Washington, Rappahannock Farmers’ Cooperative, Orlean Market (Hume), Fauquier Livestock Market, Wine and Associates, Southern States Farmers’ Cooperative (Front Royal), Ms. Mary Mochary, B & B Servicenter, Rappahannock National Bank, Rappahannock Realty, Farmers and Merchants Bank, Stillwell Plumbing (Boston), Front Royal Livestock Market.
Mrs. Smith noted that one new and popular item this year were Farm Show t-shirts, with a logo designed by Flint Hill artist Geneva Welch. “Everybody was really pleased with the design. We are certainly appreciative of her donating her artistic talent.” The silkscreening, she added, was also done locally by Fodderstack Press in Flint Hill. “We like to support local businesses,” Mrs. Smith said, “because those people are the ones who, in turn, support us.”
