The movie Steel Magnolias will be playing at the Gay Street Theater on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 4 and 5 at 7:30 p.m. each evening. Six brawlin’, rasslin’, lovin’ women from the South reunite at a beauty parlor in a small Louisiana town for a string of hilarious one-liners. The movie is rated PG.
Welfare League to elect officers
The Rappahannock Animal Welfare League will be electing officers for the term 1990-91 at a meeting on Aug. 7. The meeting will start at 7:30 p.m. and will be held at the usual meeting place of the Washington Volunteer Fire Department. All members are urged to attend. For more information call 987-8617.
Tennis clinics to begin
The Rappahannock County Park Authority will be sponsoring tennis clinics for all levels. The first tennis clinic will be held on Monday, Aug. 6. Registration will be at 8 p.m. and classes will begin at 9 p.m. For more information call Evelyn Kerr at 675-3924.
