Steve Nikolajevic
Steve Nikolajevic of Castleton, died July 28 at the University of Virginia Medical Center.
Mr. Nikolajevic was born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia in 1920 where he obtained his law degree. He spent 1949 and 1950 in London working on the release of Yugoslav assets which were under the control of the U.K. Custodian of Enemy Property during WWII.
He arrived in the United States in January 1951 to join a one-year training program of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development. He married the same year Marguerite de Saluces and has since then engaged in travel, steamship and real estate businesses.
Since their retirement in late 1982 Mr. and Mrs. Nikolajevic had lived in Castleton where he served on the Advisory Council of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.
He is survived by his wife, Marguerite; three sons, Marc, Alexandre and Paul; one daughter-inlaw, Keri; two grandchildren, Patrick and Mathew; one brother and one sister.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 4, at the Town Hall in Washington.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Castleton Volunteer Rescue Squad.
