During cooler days is a good time to plant those fall vegetables replacing the early-bearing ones that have run their course. Be sure to deep mulch to conserve precious moisture and keep after weeds that rob the young plants of needed nutrients.

Why not make every day “Earth Day” not just an annual event in the spring of the year? Recycling of organic matter by composting makes use of valuable ingredients necessary to healthy soils. Also, try to find ways to reduce the amount of material you and your family are adding to the waste stream. We are fast running out of space as “land fills” become just that: filled.
