The Rappahannock County Garden Club marked its 43rd year of organization by welcoming six new members: Carolyn Emerick, Carol Miller, Janet Reed, Mary Revercomb, Betty Smith and Betty Wood.

The club recently sponsored a poster contest on environment for the Junior Garden Club and county 4-H members. Fifteen entries were, judged by local artist Laurie Marshall.

Top prizes went to Sam Rust, Megan Fairbrother, Chanta Brown and John Mallory. Their posters have been sent to the state contest for further judging. The other 11 entries are on display at the Rappahannock County Library through March 15.

At its upcoming March meeting, the club plans a hands-on workshop to advance the fine art of flower arranging for the creation of designs for members’ homes and flower shows.
