money report To the Editor: The Washington Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary made $9,566 from the Thrift Shop and bake sales during the last year. After paying $2,100 on rent for the Thrift Shop building, the Ladies Auxiliary has given the Washington Fire Department new tables and chairs for the hall totaling $2,556, three bay doors for the fire house for $3,000, spent $11,504 on the fire house and $5,252 on the fire truck, making the total $22,313 that was . given to the Fire Department in 1 1991 from the Ladies Auxiliary. Crowding is
detrimental To the Editor: I had an opportunity last Saturday to tour the Rappahannock County Elementary School as part of the PTO Spring Conference. I came away with an overwhelming impression of the cramped quarters that teachers, students and staff must contend with every day. I can’t help but imagine the detrimental effect this could have on the quality of their education. The future of Rappahannock County children, so much of which will be shaped by the education they receive in our schools, should matter to all of us—not just to those who have kids in the county’s public school system. Our future will soon be in these children’s hands. None of us can afford to write this off as an issue that doesn’t effect us. Each of us has something to contribute to this discussion. I urge each of you who cares about the future of our county and our country to participate in discussions about how to provide quality education to our county’s children. Clarks' letter To the Editor I am writing in repsonse to the Clarks’ letter and their difficulties with their trail. In 1979 the issue of landowner liability was addressed by the Virginia legislature in the passage of [a bill) as part of the state code. Please send a self-addressed, stamped envelope if you would like a copy to Route 1, Box 8, Flint Hill, 22627. Those of us who are regular trail users treasure our experiences and do not take lightly the permission granted by landowners to cross.
