The list goes on and on, I do not want to think about it. Besides, older mature people should be free to do their thing. That is what my kids always said when they had long hair. I remember that I was in the Marine Corps for about nine years and the Navy for three years and they lived on NEAT. The Marines had these shoes for running through woods and rocks and beaches and snow when you were being shot at. These shoes had the rough leather on the outside and the smooth on the inside. Boss Marines were always making the worker Marines shine these shoes. I didn’t take this seriously and that was a mistake. I couldn’t figure how shiny boondockers could help kill people.
Later on I noticed that the guys with the shiniest shoes were the ones who were working with typewriters and reporting casualties and not getting shot at. I got the message and quit.
I am really glad I missed Vietnam. That was a mean one. I guess we didn’t shine shoes well enough during that war. If the American Indian had only known and shined their moccasins!
