Virginia Agricultural Products Week runs March 16-20. Agriculture is recognized as Virginia’s largest and most important industry, annually producing billions of dollars in products and providing jobs and revenue for our state.
Virginia agriculture benefits greatly from the national school lunch and breakfast programs in encouraging the consumption of nutritious agricultural commodities by providing affordable meals to our school children.
The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, which administers the Common-, wealth’s food distribution program that supplies commodities for school lunches, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, are committed to providing top quality, nutritious agricultural products to the school children of the Commonwealth.
The Virginia School Food Service Association plays an important role in helping our state’s schools provide healthy, well-balanced meals for our school children, our state’s greatest asset.
