Pasta has become one of the m(>re popular foods in today’s kitchen. This is because of the ease ip preparation, the low cost, the high nutrient level, and the emphasis placed by athleteT on high carbohydrate meals. But what is so special about pasta?
How to cook perfect pasta
Here are a few cooking tips from the National Pasta Association that will make your pasta perfect.
• Always cook pasta uncovered at a fast boil, using plenty of water - at least a quart for every four ounces of dry pasta. A rapid boil helps circulate the pasta for uniform results.
• Stir frequently, using a wooden fork or similar utensil, to prevent pasta from sticking.
• Follow the package directions! For the degree of tenderness desired, from tender to fairly firm (“al dente”), the cooking time varies from five to 20 minutes depending on the thickness of the pasta.
• Drain pasta in a colander to stop the cooking action. Do not rinse unless recipe specifically says to do so. Add one-two tablespoons of butter of olive oil to prevent pasta from sticking together. - • The key to successful pasta
