The other projects was renovating an existing driveway and parking area to allow better access to the Soho Center’s classroom and playground areas. According to Beker, “Weaver Works of Madison donated much of the grading and site preparation, and all the trucking. Martin Marietta donated 40 tons of gravel and Culpeper Wood Preservers’ lumber edging provided the finishing touch. We’re very grateful and the entire area is now very accessible and really attractive.”
The Soho Center’s 10-countv Comprehensive Child Care Initiative offers free programs to 300 family day care providers who care for approximately 1,500 children. Progams include free child care training, free home safety equipemnt, and direct reimbursements for healthy meals served to children through the Soho Center’s Cash-forFood program. In addition, the Soho Center has recently started First/Class, a part-time, parent-child nursery school program for families in Madison, Culpeper, and Orange.
