lacks experience
To the Editor:
Earle Williams, a wealthy Northern Virginia retired government contractor, has announced that he is seeking the Republican nomination for Governor of Virginia. Prior to the commencement of his campaign, many of us had never heard of him.
According to the best information available, Mr. Williams has never held elected public office, neither at state nor local level. His suitability for public service is unproven. This lack of experience makes Mr. Williams unqualified to be Governor of the Commonwealth of Viginia. Money is no substitute for experience and knowledge of government.
On the other hand, George Allen has held elected public offices, both state and federal, and is known throughout the state. He is favorably regarded as to character, honesty, integrity, ability, and other attributes that combine to constitute a capable and trustworthy public servant.
I have known George Allen for many years and served with him on the Courts of Justice Committee of the House of Delegates. On the floor of the House, and in Committee, his dedication to duty, his knowledge of the proceedings, and his ability to sponsor and promote substantive legislation were second to none.
George Allen is an outstanding and. qualified candidate for Cover- j nor. He will restore dignity and integrity to that office and will be true ] to the noble hertiage of our great Commonwealth.
