Car Show in Amissville
The Custom Cruisers will bring their car show to the Amissville VFD carnival grounds this weekend, May 29 and 30. Along with the classic and show cars it will include a model car contest, door prizes, music, bingo and raffles. The event will be held rain or shine, for details, call Scott Chamberlain, 937-4577.
Carnival Next Weekend
The Sperryville VFD will hold its annual carnival next week, June 2 through June 5. The carnival features a parade beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 3, plus rides, amusements and food every evening.
The highlight of the carnival will be the crowning of the queen at midnight Friday, June 4. The candidates are Jennifer Brown, Samantha Smoot and Shanbay Fuller, and the winner will be determined by the number of tickets sold. She will be crowned by Amy Grigsby, last year’s queen.
“We hope to raise enough money to buy a rebuilt motor for our old fire wagon,” said Roy Jenkins, the company’s president. Last year, the parade attracted 75 units, and Jenkins said the volunteers hope to have an even bigger turnout this year.
