4-H Club News

As summer approaches, 4-H activity continues to be busy.
4-H Dog Obedience Class is well undemay. Mr. Don Nielsen is teaching this course for 12 youth on Monday evenings at the Rec Center. They’ve met four times and will continue through June 28. We appreciate Mr. Nielsen donating his time and talents to 4-H and are glad that so many young people are interested in the class.
4-H Junior Garden Club-Have you been to the Rappahannock County Library recently? Have you noticed the flower garden between the driveway and big rock? Doesn’t it lood great! Members of the 4-H Jr. Garden Club, with the able assistance of their leader, Susan Rust, have enlarged the garden, planted perennials, and mulched it. They still need to make I.D. markers for the plants.
4-H Teen Club-The Teen Club picked up trash in the Town of Washington at their April meeting.
4-H LABO Delegates-The combined 4-H and EHC fundraiser/raffle of quilt, painting, and flower arrangement raised $1,372. $250 will be used by the Extension Homemakers for the scholarship they give at graduation, and the remainder donated to our 4-H delegates going on the exchange trip to Japan this summer.
These are examples of the community service projects that our 4-H clubs perform in Rappahannock County. They are fulfilling their 4-H ^ pledge when they say “I pledge....my hands to larger service...for my club, may community, and my world,”
