4-H'ers Visit D.C.
4-H’ers from Culpeper, Rappahannock and Fauquier Counties recently visited legislators at the Nation’s Capital as the culmination of a seven month citizenship program known as Communities for Creative Learning Experiences or CCLE.
Participants from Planning District 9 worked to develop a fuller sense of responsibility and privilege as they studied local, state, and national governments and how they function.
CCLE is a 4-H citizenship enrichment program open to 12-19 year olds. It is not necessary to be a current 4-H member in order to participate.
The program goals are to develop an understanding of an individual’s role in government, create an appreciation for the freedoms which we possess, and to express opinions on issues of concern to young people through discussion with local, state, and national elected officials.
This year’s program culminated in a trip to Washington, D.C. where 4-H’ers met with Congressman Thomas Bliley, Congressman Frank Wolfe, and a representative for Senator John Warner.
