Douglas K. Baumgardner was among the 200 graduates of Virginia Military Institute, Lexington, who received diplomas at commencement May 20. Cadet Baumgardner of Washington, son of Mr. and Mrs. F.M. Baumgardner, received a B.A. degree in economics and a reserve commission as second lieutenant in the United States Army.

An auditor’s error has left
the Rappahannock Supervisors $20,368 short of the $116,830 they thought they had cut from the proposed 1983-84 school budget earlier this month.
“We’ll have a new jail for Christmas,” announced Supervisor H.B. Wood after Rappahannock’s Board voted unanimously at Tuesday’s special meeting to insure a contract to Baughan Construction Company of Luray for renovation of the county jail.
At $122,475 Baughan was the low bidder on the project.
