The new dial central office of
Virginia Telephone and Telegraph Company at Washington was cut into service at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, May 21. S.E. Brown, District Plant Supervisor was in charge of the cutover. Fourteen telephone company employees were busy throughout the day changing ringings on party lines. Conversion to the new office was started last fall when ground was borken for the new building which was erected on Gay Street in Washington.

Allsberry joined the Marine Corps in July, 1992.
