20,000-25,000 square foot building housing classrooms and a gymansium will be a part of the first round of construction. These “phase one” facilities will be able to accomodate 300 students.

However, Roberts said that plans so not stop there. He expects there will be three or four phases of construction, depending on enrollment increases over the next few years. He projected that subsequent construction will be such that Wakefield will be able to accomodate an expected 500 students in the not-toodistant future.

The school’s current enrollment, grades kindergarten through 12th grade, is 177 students, and Roberts projects an enrollment for next year of 210. More than 160 students have already registered for the 1993-94 school year, and he said that he more than 70 parents have expressed interest in sending their children to Wakefield.

To compare Wakefield’s future enrollment with those of two prominent private schools in the area, Highland School in Warrenton and Hill School in Middleburg, Wakefield is soon expecting enrollements that are almost double the size of the other two schools.

Highland’s enrollment for kindergarten through eighth grade is currently 181 students, and Hill School, also kindergarten through eighth grades, currently enrolls 181 students.

In addition, while Hill School, with a 134-acre campus, will have more land than the proposed Wakefield site, Highland falls short with 13 acres.

Roberts estimated that the school will raise between $600,000 and $700,000 for phase one construction. He said that Wakefield is starting a new group, called Wakefield Brick by Brick, for fundraising. He added that last year, Wakefield received an anonymous matching grant for up to $500,000. Roberts said that the new fundraising group intends to raise $300,000.
