Clay and Deborah Hisel (Hisle) of the Redstone Arsenal in Alabama along with Violet Hysell of Barboursville, W.Va. led a group of descendants of the original owner, John Barnhisle (Hisel) to Rappahannock County for a week of study of their ancestors.
They stayed at Windy Hill in Woodville on a party of the original parcel given to John Hisel, perhaps from Germany in 1732. The descendants looked over old deeds, libraries and cemeteries to discover a great deal about their family. In addition to the above, Sidney and Gladys Hisel, of Georgetown, Kentucky and Richard and Peper Sharp ofBluefield, W.Va. attended.
People with the Hisel (Hisle) name, which has taken on several spellings, live all over the United States. Most descended from John who received several hundred acres including Bessie Bell Mountain as a patent in 1732. The B.L. Prices served as host for the reunion.
Dr. and Mrs. Berkley Rish of Virginia Beach are spending their summer at Fox Creek Horse farm. Their son, Bobby, lives here year round.
