The School Board decided to reject all bids for gasoline and diesel fuel for the buses and to seek new bids that would include supplying tanks. The new bids are to be submitted by 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 25.
When bids for fuels were opened at last week’s School Board meeting, none of the bidders was willing to supply tanks. Quarles Petroleum, which owns the tanks at the bus shop, did not submit a bid.
School Superintendent David Gangel said he is “optimistic” that: this time the school system will get a bid from a firm willing to supply tanks.
The tanks were filled at the end of the last school year. There is enough diesel fuel for two to three days of bus operation and enough gasoline for between 10 and 12 days.
