Located 1.1 miles from the Health Department on Route 622 is Mountain Green, home of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Sharp.
Although the house is not open to the public, its history is notable as it is one of the oldest houses in the county and owned by only three families in its more than 200-year history.
The original four room stone house, with 22-inch thick walls, was built in 1784 by John Miller and housed his wife and fourteen children. Mountain Green remained in the Miller family for 161 years. In the 1860s, the house “ was enlarged with a brick section. A two story columned portico, two bedrooms and two living rooms were added.
