The American Cancer Society says that the average size of a breast lump which can be found by self examination of the breast is about a half-inch in diameter. Regular mammography can find lumps as small as one eighth of an inch in diameter. If early detection is the aim, then mammography clearly is an important part of the program.
Fauquier Hospital’s Radiology Department offers screening mammograms during normal business hours and two evenings a week year round.
