Mr. Settle was born in Fauquier County on Sept. 17, 1936, son of Dollie Melbourne of Culpeper and the late Aubrey William Settle.
Surviving with his mother are his wife Bessie L. Settle of Amissville; three daughters, Carolyn Whorton of Amissville, Donna Marsh of Rixeyville and Rhonda Olah of Luray; one son, Aubrey Douglas Settle Jr. of Madison and nine grandchildren.
Also surviving are six sisters, Mary Priest, Frances Lawrence and Nancy Frazier all of Amissville, Ruby Celements of Manassas, Margie Shifflett of Alexandria and Martha Godfrey of Winchester and a half-brother David Melbourne of Culpeper.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Oct. 7 at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton with the Rev. L.D. Savage officiating.
Interment was in Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Jeffersonton.
