Rappahannock 2, in the under-10 division of the Rappahannock Soccer League, continued its winning ways with a 2 to 0 victory over a Culpeper team Saturday. This team coached
“Central has a real good team, and Shenandoah County has three of the better teams in the district,” Coach Leake said. He said that Central was able to start a group of seniors that have been playing together for eight years. He noted that Shenandoah County has extensive youth basketball for both boys and girls, with teams for eighth graders, seventh graders, and even younger children, playing inside and outside of the county.
“The more I stay in the business, the more I see that we need little league basketball,” he said. He noted that gym space is one problem and expressed disappointment that the middle-school proposal was turned down by the Board of Supervisors, since that would have provided another gym for such activities.
