Wholesale beef prices have dropped 15 percent in the past six months, but the price of beef in the supermarket has remained about the same. 4

“There’s always a lag between live cattle prices and what the consumer is paying for beef, but (this difference) surely has not been reflected yet in the grocery store,” said Reggie Reynolds, executive secretary of the Virginia Cattleman’s Association.
