Mrs. Tyner, was born in Rappahannock June 17, 1895, to her parents, James A. and Fannie V. Johnson Atkins. Ethel attend Sycamore School, being taught by Miss Lizzie Houghton. She was reared on her parents farm high up in Old Hollow where she grew to womanhood. She was one in a family of ten children, which includes: Will, Lena, Charley, Nellie, Lizzie, Pattie, Jennie, David and Lois. Sister, Lois A. Frazier, is still living. Mrs. Tyner also has a son, David “Bud” Tyner and a daughter-in-law, Jennie, of Palmyra. There are also several nieces and nephews.
Ethel has also been something of a poet in her day. The following is one also wrote sometime ago.
