with patients and on updating their care programs, the Hospice staff is equally devoted to the emotional needs of patient families.
The nurses, social workers, and volunteers provide comforting emotional support for everyone involved. Because the family and others play a key role in patient caregiving, supporting them is a vital part of the Hospice equation, too.
Ms. Falk Morgan says that Hospice can made a significant difference in the months before a patient dies. Still, she says, “We receive referrals on many patients who have only a few days, or even hours, to live. We are glad to be there for them, but we would like to encourage people to take advantage of our services earlier. Ideally, Hospice is involved for many months. We honor this meaningful time of life and are dedicated to helping people live in comfort while maintaining control and dignity in their life. Hospice helps make each day count.”
