Reading Program Continues
The summer reading program, “Reading is a Magic Trip,” continues weekly at the Rappahannock County Library. Tina Liza Jones, formerly with Trapezoid, will be the featured entertainer at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6. Ms. Jones performs songs in an oldtime bluegrass style accompanied by bapjo, guitar and concertina. All library programs are free and open to children of all ages. Benefit Bake Sale
The Ladies Auxiliary of Washington Volunteer Fire Department will have a bake sale beginning at 10 a.m. at the Thrift shop. All donations of baked goods or cash will be greatly appreciated. For more information call Jean Alther at 675-3844. The Thrift Shop will also be open to the public.
Chester Gap Carnival
Chester Gap Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual carnival July 7, 8 and 9. Activities planned include a Womanless Beauty Contest on Thursday; 8 and 10 p.m. performance by Pure Country on Friday and 8 and 10 p.m. performance by Mystic Sound on Saturday, as well as crowning of Honorary Fire Chief and drawing of prizes. The community is urged to support the event.
Free Clinic Open
The Fauquier Free Clinic, Inc. is open every Thursday evening to serve Rappahannock and Fauquier County residents who have no health insurance, no medicare or medicaid and cannot afford to pay for health care. Registration for the clinic is from 5:30-6:30 p.m. All patients registered in that hour will be seen that evening. Volunteer doctors and nurses are staffed to provide free health care. Located in the Fauquier County Health Department, 330 Hospital Drive. Call 3470394 for further information.
Christmas Tree Buyers Guide
The Rappahannock County Extension Office is in the process of preparing a Christmas Tree Buyers Guide for the fall of 1994. This will be similar to the “Orchard Guide” listing orchards in the county. This information is often requested by consumers, local bed and breakfasts, and shops.
Christmas tree growers in Rappahannock County who wish to be included should contact Skip Robinson, Extension Master Gardener at 675-3619.
