Members of the Water and Sewer Authority voted to hire a second full-time employee for the Sperryvflle sewer plant at a special meeting last Thursday.
Currently the authority has one ftiU-time plant operator, who also oversees operation of the school sewage systems, and two part-time operators who cover on weekends and when the operator is sick or on vacation. In addition the authority contracts for help in keeping the tanks and lines in the system working.
In past years the plant operator also pumped tanks of the systems customers and put the septage in the plant, but that has not been done recently.
This past winter WSA members decided to have septage from the tanks in the system taken to a treatment plant in Remington. The WSA owns a truck that can be used for pumping.
The new full-time employee will be responsible for that pumping and hauling, be trained as a plant operator to cover on weekends and also see to regular maintenance of the tanks and lines.
The WSA is still operating without a budget for the new fiscal year
