Mrs. Ethel Atkins Tyner of Sperry ville was 99 years of age on June 17, 1994. On Sunday, June 19, friends and family met after worship services at Mrs. Tyner’s church, Thornton Gap Primitive Baptist in Old Hollow, honoring her with a surprise party.
A tent, donated by Clore Funeral Home in Culpeper was pitched under which tables of dishes of food were laid. A banner citing the event, balloons, a coursage of roses, a bouquet of roses, cards and a cake were tributes offered to Mrs. Tyner’s accomplishments.
Among those who helped celebrate her special day were Mrs. Magdalene Dwyer, Mrs. Ruby Dwyer and Mrs. Sally Keyser, all of the Old Hollow, Elder Roger and Bonnie Frazier of Remington, Ron Weitsel and wife, Marlon Jennings of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Lorene Dwyer and Jeannie Dwyer of Washington, Aaron, Beverly, Adam and
