Now, based upon income—not net worth—all of the wealthy are in businesses, banking or other urban occupations. You would have to go a long way down from the top income in the country before you would find someone we would consider a farmer.
Taxing gas, tires and so forth to pay for roads makes sense. Taxing the woods and pastures to pay for schools does not. But, do not expect the politicians to follow this suggestion when they depend upon “bribing'’ the electorate with “services” which they get someone else to pay for! To quote Pogo of the comics, “We have met the enemy, and he is us!”
