Scott Updike and Nancie Gallegos placed second high individuals in the state 4-H Livestock Juding Contest and 4-H Dairy Bowl Contest respectively during statewide contests held during 4-H Congress June 20-25 at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg.
Scott Updike along with four junior members of the Rappahannock 4-H Livestock Club—Justin and Katie Updike, David Massie and Zack Corbin—participated in the 4-H Livestock Judging Contest on June 25. Scott placed second high individual in the senior division and thererfore, made the state team which will go to the national contest in November in Louisville, Ky.
The junior team placed tenth with Justin Updike placing eighth high individual.
There were 60 participants in the senior division and 80 in the junior division.
Toni Updike, Jim Massie and Dwight Horley, coaches and 4-H leaders, accompanied the teams to Virginia Tech.
