The Children’s Bicycle Parade is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. with line up for the parade behind the jail at 4 p.m. Children 12 and younger are invited to participate. Bikes should be decorated, and there will be prizes for the best-decorated bikes. Ms. Manson said, “Parents are encouraged to assist with younger children.” For further information call Ms. Manson at 675-1349.
The evening program at Avon Hall begins at 5 p.m. with a concert by The Seldom Scene.
The Fire Department’s barbecue dinners will also go on sale at 5 p.m.
Also on Carrigan’s Hill will be children’s! foot races at 6:30, more square dancing with Jim Morrison and Rivanna will also begin at 6:30p.m.
At 7:30 the Fire Department will crown their queens, Miss Independence and Little Miss Fourth of July. There will be raffle drawings and Mr. Carrigan will speak.
Another concert with Rare Bird will begin at 8 p.m. followed by fireworks at dark.
The Fourth of July Celebration in Washington is a major fundraiser for the Washington Volunteer Fire Department, and everyone hopes for pleasant weather to help make the event a success.
