Many feeders are losing up to $200 per head, which means prices will be cut when Virginia cattle are sold at auction this fall.
To ease the record $1.42 per pound price difference between wholesale and retail beef prices, the American Farm Bureau Federation is urging 30 of the nation’s top grocery chains to lower their beef prices as “quickly as possible,” said C. Wayne Ashworth, president of the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation.
