The Board of Supervisors received a copy of the proposed budget for next year, including the school budget at Monday's meeting.
County Administrator John McCarthy said it could be funded with a 4 cent increase to the tax rate, or 73 cents, a 5.8 percent increase.
Mr. McCarthy said as an alternative the supervisors could consider raising thtj personal property tax. It has remained constant at $2.90 since 1988. He said a 20 cent increase in the property tax would bring in the same amount as I tent on the real estate tax.
