Barbara Shanks and her family got a new house last weekend.
With 60 volunteers on Saturday and 34 on Sunday, the Habitat for Humanity project was a huge success. Project Manager Peter Kramer said, “1 am overwhelmed with how it all went. Everyone who showed up participated effectively. There was a lot of enthusiasm and energy and it stayed."
Construction on the house began at 8 a.m. Saturday, when the deck was completed on the foundation. Peter Kreyling and two of his employees had set the sill plates the day before, in anticipation of next morning’s work crew.
With direction hv the operations group — Peter Kreyling, Lloyd Sims, Butch Zindel and Louise van Dort — and all the volunteers, by noon Saturday the front wall and one side wall were up and in place. Before the end ol the day, the roof trusses
