A house owned by George Harrington in Harris Hollow was broken into and burgled last Friday.
According to Sheriff John Henry' Woodward of the Rappahannock County Sheriffs Office, the burglars ripped the electric meter box off the house and cut the phone lines. Missing from the house are a Seth Thomas wall clock, 23 bottles of wine, a slide projector, various tools and audio tapes. All told, the items are valued aro'und $ 1,000.
Sheriff Woodward said that the meter box was probably removed to turn off any alarm system which may have been in place. He said, however, that most alarm systems have a battery as a back-up.
