Sawmill

The Board of Zoning Appeals approved a special use permit for a custom sawmill tor Thomas G. Taylor of Sperry ville last week.
Mr. Taylor said that he plans on using the sawmill mostly in the evenings. The BZA told him that if there are no complaints from neighbors during the next year, then no time restrictions will be placed on his operation. BZA member Sid Gottlieb brought up the issue of a cut-off time, thinking that the noise might bother neighbors and keep them from sleeping.
Mr, Taylor said he felt that the sawmill would be far enough from neighbors th&t no one would be bothered by the noise.
Mr. Taylor will be building a 40 ft. bv 60 ft. structure and will be using a small band saw . Three sides of the structure will be open, to allow the wood to dry. He said it is a one man operation but sometimes he will need help from one or two others.
BZA member Jennifer Matthews wondered if the roads in Old Hollow will be able to handle the heavy logging trucks. County Administrator John McCarthy responded that a load of logs would last Mr. Tay lor a while.
The sawmill will be located on Route 612 in Old Hollow.
