The budget for county government includes a 2.5 percent salary increase for most employees whose salaries are set by the state effective in December. A similar increase was included for employees who are strictly county employees, he said. Sheriff's deputies will get a 4.5 percent increase effective in December.
The budget also includes funds for additional full-time and part-time employees to man a central trash drop-off point, Mr. McCarthy said.
It also includes funds to plan for the renovation of the old Town Hall site, now being used by Trapezoid and Ki Theatre, for use as county offices. Mr. McCarthy said the Treasurer and Commission of Revenue offices could be located in that building, consolidating financial departments and freeing up space in their offices for other government offices now using rented space. He suggested the building office could use one of the offices.
