It may include fhotors, lights, angle sensors, temperature sensors and sound devices along with the bricks familiar to everyone. Then a software called Logo must be used to write a program that controls the inputs and outputs of the device built. The final test is when a one button control is achieved for the device to show the solution desired.
The other state championship was won by Justin Day, Jim Clarke and Willie Eastham in the Oral Technology Bowl. The team defeated Brook Point High School from Stafford County in a grueling double overtime match. The win marked the second straight win and fourth in the last six years for the Rappahannock teams.
Willie and Jim also brought home a second place trophy in structural engineering. They had to build a tower that would hold up weight added to the top. Balsa wood strips and wood glue are used to make the most efficient structure. The winner was a tower that was the strongest and used the least materials.
