Upcoming Events

Open House Planned

The Washington Volunteer Fire Department will be holding an Open House from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on April 29. There will be demonstrations, videos and literature available. Everyone in the community is invited.

4-H Day Camp Registration

This year’s 4-H Day Camp will be held June 26-30 at the Northern Virginia 4-H Educational Center. This camp is for children between the ages of 6 and 12 as of Jan. 1, 1995. Registration will begin Monday, May and continue until June 1 or until the camp is full. We can take only 75 children, and the camp fills up very rapidly, so if you’re interested, come in early and fill out a registration form. The cost of the camp is $25 for five days, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. Children need to bring a bag lunch each day; drinks are provided. Also, parents are invited to come to a covered dish lunch on Friday to be a part of the day camp experience and enjoy the closing program.

Benefit Yard Sale Set

The Amissville United Methodist Women’s yard sale is set for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 29. A bake sale is also available, as well as lunch. For donations, call Judy at 937-3062 or Irma at 937-4082.

Open House Planned

An open house will be held at Belle Meade from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, May 6. Belle Meade is located on Route 231, Sperryville and camp directors, Susan Hoffman and Mike Biniek invites the public to attend. “Bring your bathing suit, the pool will be open,” said Ms. Hoffman. Craft Show Planned

A craft show will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 29 at the Madison County American Legion on Thrift Road, Madison. The set up fee is $20 for church organizations and $30 for other vendors. It is sponsored by WBRB MDU Scholarship Committee. There will be food, music, crafts and fun for all. Dance at Flint Hill

The Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department will have a dance from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Saturday, May 6 with the band Southern Persuasion. For reservation call 675-3389.

Benefit Yard Sale

There will be a multi-family yard sale at Wakefield Country Day School on Route 522 in Huntly beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 6 in the gym. For more information call 635-8555.

Plant Sale Planned

The Culpeper Library will have a plant sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 29. There will be many varieties of flowers and vegetable plants available.

Fashion Show Slated

The Culpeper Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Shop second annual Fashion Show and luncheon will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, April 29 at the Culpeper Country Club.

Models will display only clothes from the CMHA Thrift Shop. A combination of local people models will be showing what the thrift shop has to offer to the public.

Tickets are now on sale for $15 per person at any service organization of the hospital such as the gift shop, coffee shop, reception desk, floor service or at the Thrift Shop located at 219 Waters Place. Chairman of the Fashion Show is Mrs. Edith Witherspoon, you may contact her at 547-3332. All proceeds go to the Hospital’s Auxiliary.

Meeting, Awards Celebration Set

The Piedmont United Way Annual Dinner and Awards Celebration will be held on May 1 at Lakeside Club, Route 211 West in Culpeper beginning at 6 p.m.

Special guest for the evening will be Joe Jacoby, a former Washington Redskin player and now a businessman in Warrenton. The program will include the annual report of the Piedmont United Way, Inc. and the 1994-95 campaign awards presentations.

Reservations and tickets for the event will be $13 and may be purchased by calling 825-7615 or by going to the Piedmont-United Way office located at 129 East Davis Street, Culpeper.

No tickets will be available at the door!

Please plan to attend and join the Piedmont united way Board of Directors to hear first hand the accomplishments the United Way has made in our communities.

Registration Underway

Spring Mountain School, a federated Waldorf school, is now registering students for the 1995-96 school year, for Nursery through grade 5. Fees will remain unchanged from the present year. Please call the office at 675-1458 for more information.
