William Myran Haun, Jr., 29, of Remington, pleaded guilty to petit larceny, on an amended charge from the original grand larceny. He and four others had been charged with stealing a coffeewood tree and selling it for $200.
Mr. Haun was sentenced to 12 months in jail, eight months suspended, and four months to serve. Mr. Luke said that Mr. Haun has agreed to testify against two co-defendants in the case regarding some other crimes. He will be on one year unsupervised probation upon release from jail and must pay restitution of $70.
