Nearly 400 people attended the Ben Venue Kite Fly and Earth Day celebration at Ben Venue Farm last Saturday.
It was an excellent day for flying kites as the wind was really strong. So strong in fact that while flying his parafoil, Ed Gwyn of Sperryville was lifted into the air (and he weighs over 200 lbs.).
He also gave lessons with die giant kites.
Kites of all sorts and sizes were up in the air — homemade kites, long tailed kites, and others. Kite Fly organizer Heidi Eastham said that all children who made kites and registered received blue ribbons.
