year. All the teachers were required to communicate with parents each week. In the beginning of the year they sent home weekly notes to parents telling what materials they were covering in class and what big projects or tests would be coming up. As the year went along several teachers switched to using voice mail for the weekly communication with parents.
She said the school got a lot of positive response from parents with this program, and that as parents with children in the school, they found it very helpful.
They noted that when they ask their children what they did in school that day, the children frequently respond “nothing.” With the weekly report from the teacher they were able to ask the children about particular material being covered and reinforce the learning taking place in school.
