County farmers may be eligible for emergency loans to help cover losses they sustained as a result of the excessive heat and lack of rain May 1 through June 20, 1994, according to Rural Economic and Community Development, known formerly as the Farmers Home Administration.
Any farmer who was denied an emergency loan or discouraged from applying for a loan because he did not have crop insurance for the 1994 crop might be eligible for a loan since the crop insurance requirement for 1994 has been waived by the agency.
Any farmer in that category who is interested in a loan should visit the local Rural Economic and Community Development Office as soon as possible. Rappahannock residents may reach the Culpeper office by calling 825-4200.
