She said she plans to try to make it obvious to anyone coming in from outside that RCES is a “real childcentered school.”
She said she believes the teachers are doing a good job and the children are learning but the results “are not showing up on standardized tests.” She said there are some very simple things teachers can do to help children do better on those tests.
Mr. Smith said with the end of the RJR project in the school, the computers will be spread throughout the upper grades. He said one fourthgrade classroom will continue to have a full set of computers and all the fourth-grade students will be able to use them for part of the day. The other fourth-grade classes will have about 12 computers in them.
