Mr. Miller keeps stressing that all of the plans are entirely subject to change. “If nobody wants houses then none of it will be houses," he said. Other acreage shows where commercial businesses might be located, and where one-story elderly housing might go. The commercial section would be located toward U S. 211.
He envisions the housing as single family dwellings (not condos) for people who already live and work in Rappahannock, but have a hard time finding affordable housing here. Elderly housing would be one-story, with possibly four living quarters within one building.
The Thornton River, which runs through the property , would also be an amenity which could be used by a lot of people, said Mr. Miller. “We want it so that people can go anywhere in town bv walking or bicycling,” said Mr. McNear.
Mr. Miller summed up the project by saying, “It is something I think is important to do but it is not something I am burning to do. If it is not done it might force development elsewhere where it might not be good for the county.”
