Mr. Miller said that he feels the county has had excellent leadership over the years in planning to preserve the rural character of the county. He and Mr. McNear agreed on goals and what they feel are some of the needs for the county: affordable housing, elderly housing, a sense of community, and construction of new businesses around villages (no commercial strips).
“We believe the growth should come in and around the villages. If Sperryville is to grow, the most advantageous way for it to grow is on property we own,” Mr. McNear said.
Mr. Miller said they want to listen to the needs of people in the community, and they hope to set up an advisory committee of people with divergent ideas, who are concerned and committed to the area. They might also approach the school of architecture at UVa. and see if they can lend
