Wilbert Williams, 75, of Front Royal died at The Lynn Care Center in Front Royal on Monday, July 24.

Funeral services were held at the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church on Friday, July 28 with the Rev. Thomas H, Gibbs officiating.

Interment was in the Good Hope Cemetery, Front Royal.

Mr. Williams was born Jan. 1, 1920,in Rappahannock County, the son of the late Lena Williams. Fie was the last member of his immediate family.

Mr. Williams had made his home with Mrs. Idabell Robinson of Happy Creek for 30 years. He was formerly employed with McDonald’s Saw Mill.

He was a member of the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church.

Active pallbearers were Charles Sanker, Charles Jordan, Charles Baltimore, John Poles, James Freeman and Robert Richards.

Honorary pallbearers were David Chunn, Harry Haley, Reginald Travis, Randolph DeNeal, Steven Travis.

Funeral arrangements were by Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home, Front Royal.

Sam Bowen

Sam Bowen , 83, of Kearneysville, W.Va. died Wednesday, July 26 at a Martinsburg, W.Va. hospital.

Mr. Bowen was born on March 15, 1912, in Rappahannock County, a son of the late Lizzie Atkins and Oakley Bowen.

He was a retired carpenter.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nellie Gay Bowen of Kearneysville, W.Va.; 10 children, Dorothy B. Swain of Warrenton, Nellie Droke of Memphis, Tenn., Charles C. Bowen of Connecticut, Billy Bowen of Canton, Mass., Earl Bowen of Fairfax, Mary E. Bowen of Staunton, Margie Lugo of Arlington, Kathryn Spring of Kearneysville, W.Va. Janice Benthol of Manassas and David Bowen of Inwood, W.Va. and numerous grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

Also surviving are four sisters, Mabel McClanahan of Warrenton, Magadlene Dwyer of Sperryville, Fannie Clatterbuck of Remington and Mildred Frazier, also of Warrenton and one brother, James Bowen of Roanoke.

Mr. Bowen was predeceased by one sister and one brother.

Funeral services were held on Saturday at Rosedale Chapel in Martinsburg, W.V.a with burial in the church cemetery.
