Fishing Rules
Differ In Park
For the first time in many years, Fishing regulations in the State of Virginia, and Shenandoah National Park are not the same.
Differences include:
• No trout under eight inches in length may be kept in the Park. The size limit in the State is now nine inches.
• No person may keep more than five trout per day or have more than five trout in their possession in the Park. The creel limit for the State is now six.
• Trout season in the Park is from 9 a.m. on the third Saturday in March through Oct. 15. Anglers may fish for trout year-round in the state.
The Commonwealth of Virginia implemented new fishing regulations on July 1. Regulations in Shenandoah National Park are the same as 1994.
